Hankyu Hanshin Express Selected for Tokyo SAF or Biofuel Cargo Subsidy Program
Hankyu Hanshin Express Co., Ltd. has been selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as one of the freight forwarders promoting the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for air cargo and biofuels for ocean cargo transportation to reduce CO₂ emissions.
Under Tokyo's program launched in 2024, companies registered in Tokyo that use SAF for air cargo through designated forwarders receive subsidies to offset additional SAF-related costs. Furthermore, starting in fiscal year 2026, ocean cargo transportation using biofuels has also been added to the scope of the program.
Following its selection in fiscal year 2025, Hankyu Hanshin Express has been selected for the second consecutive year as a participating freight forwarder in this program. During the subsidy period (June 2026-March 2027), Tokyo-based companies using SAF for air cargo and biofuels for ocean cargo shipments through Hankyu Hanshin Express will receive a CO₂ Reduction Certificate and financial support for SAF or biofuel surcharges.

SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel):
A renewable fuel produced from waste oils, biomass, municipal waste, and other resources.
Biofuels:
A general term for fuels produced from biomass, including bioethanol as a substitute for gasoline and biodiesel fuel as a substitute for diesel.
